2027 Budget Process
The FRSC Board has taken important steps in the 2027 budget process starting with a draft work plan, and preliminary budget.
For the first time the FRSC has delivered a preliminary budget in July allowing staff and the Board an additional month of review to ensure a transparent, informed and shared vision for 2027.
Fiscal restraint and feasibility remain the focus for services. This budget brings the additional challenge of two anticipated major projects in Regional Facilities and Regional Transportation. In this preliminary draft, a $2M increase to member contributions is budgeted, pending the recommendation for Regional Facilities and confirmation of funding. The FRSC intends to present a final draft budget during the August Board meeting, which will initiate the 45-day review period, when feedback is sought from member councils and advisory committee.
The 2027 Draft Work Plan includes 5 strategic priorities:
- Initial execution of a regional transit plan.
- Renewal project of CGAC to support 2029 Canada Games.
- Pursuit of regional continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency & cost savings.
- Development of 2028-2033 FRSC Regional Strategy.
- Training & workshop for members on Homelessness Response best practices.
