May 2022 Guild Meeting Reminder on Zoom

Meeting Date: Monday, May 16th, 2022
Doors Open on Zoom: 6:30PM for mixing
Meeting: 7:00PM - 9:00PM

The guest lecturer for the VancouverMQG's May meeting is our very own Laura Gates she will be presenting a member spotlight about her work.

Laura is a longarmer quilter and has been a member of VMQG since 2016. She enjoys quilting on her Gammill machine in her home sewing room and over the past 5 years has learned so much about quilting in general, mainly from this wonderful community we’re all apart of.

Laura will sharing her longarm quilting process for some of the work she’s done on a few of her own quilts as well as quilts she's stitched for others. Laura has gathered a photo gallery of quilts from some of our VMQG members plus a few from her collection that she had the pleasure of quilting.

Enjoy this trunk show of quilts as in which she will highlight things to consider when you go to a longarmer including:

  • What to ask when you contact a longarmer
  • How to determine what style of quilting to stitch
  • How to prepare your quilt top, backing and batting before you drop off a quilt

The Executive is very excited to see what Laura has to share!

Once at TrendTex, each group will be taken through the warehouse (anyone interested in seeing 40,000 bolts of fabric?!!), get a sneak peak at upcoming collections from our amazing suppliers (be among the first in Canada to see these beauties) and have a fantastic presentation from one of our TrendTex Sales Representatives (fancy learning more about your favourite fabrics?). Each tour is free to attend!

Please note that proof of vaccination will be required to attend any of the tours and will be required prior to boarding the bus or entering our facility.
