In March New England Speaks French!

On the occasion of the Francophonie Celebrations in New England, the Québec Government Office has teamed up with its francophone partners to develop a rich cultural program.

Throughout the Mois de la Francophonie, we invite you to participate in the events and meet those who take pride in promoting francophone cultures and the French language.

Teen success Aurélie Laflamme on tour!

Writer India Desjardins and actress Marianne Verville are on a tour to present Le Journal d’Aurélie Laflamme all around New England. A bestseller, Aurélie's story was taken to the big screen in 2010 and quickly became a blockbuster amongst teens.

Aurélie's story: Aurélie feels all alone in the universe. The situation is critical when you are fourteen years old and have just gotten into a fight with your best friend. On top of all of this, if you have a mother who never understands anything and has a serious crush on your school’s headmaster, well then… If only Dad was here… Between joy and sorrow, successes and failures, love and friendship, we follow Aurélie as she finds her very own place in this universe.

Movie screenings and book discussions

March 9

5:30 pm - 6:30 pm | Brookline Booksmith

The two Québec artists, India Desjardins and the Marianne Verville, will discuss the novel with you.

The discussion will end with the screening of the movie at the Festival du film francophone.

2:30 pm - 5:30 pm | French Cultural Center, Boston

Come to the French Cultural Center for the projection of Le Journal d’Aurélie Laflamme and participate in the discussion with Québec writer India Desjardins and young actress Marianne Verville.

Voyages en Francophonie is a fun filled family event with food stalls and stands representing francophone countries, you will have plenty of fun traveling the francophone world with friends and family!

Franconnexions conference

March 20 | University of Vermont, Burlington

A conference highlighting the historical, cultural and economic contributions of French Canadians from Québec to Vermont and New England. Following the last panel a special Francophonie flag raising ceremony and reception will take place in downtown Burlington.

Registration is $40 which includes breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks and invitation to the reception.

Student Paper competition

The conference is hosting a student paper/poster competition highlighting student research related to Québec/New England relationships and issues.
