Board Meeting | Amalgamation Update | Renewal Complete

 

Board meeting

COBC's spring board meeting will take place at our offices at 200 Granville Street on Thursday, May 11, beginning at 9:00 AM. Registrants who are interested in attending can RSVP by emailing Christopher Dodge at cdodge@cobc.ca no later than Monday, May 8.

At this meeting, COBC looks forward to welcoming brand new public members Susan Birge and Paul Choi, and welcoming back Sue Randhawa for her second term.

 

Amalgamation update

The Ministry of Health has confirmed its timeline for the amalgamation of 11 BC health profession regulatory colleges into two multi-profession regulators. The Ministry intends for the amalgamation to be completed by the end of June 2024.

Territorial acknowledgement training

Last month, COBC's Board and staff participated in a workshop on territorial acknowledgements, facilitated by Exit 26 Consulting. This training adds a powerful tool to our collective and personal toolkits as we continue our Indigenous Cultural Safety & Humility journey.

Did you know?

If you're already licensed as an optician and are interested in upgrading your licence, you may be eligible for direct entry into the second year of Douglas College's two-year Opticianry Diploma program. This portion of the program covers both contact lens fitting and automated refraction. Classes are delivered on Douglas College's Coquitlam campus.
