THE COLE HARBOUR—DARTMOUTH REPORT

Heating Assistance Rebate Program Open

Dear Cole Harbour—Dartmouth Residents,

The scent of pumpkin spice is all around us and the mornings are getting just a bit “fresher”. Sweater weather is certainly upon us.

As I write this note, the Nova Scotia Legislature has commenced its Fall sitting. If you have any questions, you would like me to ask on your behalf about provincial government programs, or other provincial concerns – please reach out to my office. I am always here to listen, talk and meet with you.

With the colder weather brings flu season. My office still has COVID-19 rapid tests available. Keep yourself protected, booster shots and influenza shots are available for online booking

Happy October and wishing you a safe and spooky Halloween!

Sincerely,

Cole Harbour Community Fridge

A community group focused on reducing food insecurity opened the Cole Harbour Community Fridge on October 21st at 15 Bisset Road. Like other community fridges, the fridge is modelled on a “Take what you need, leave what you can” model.

The program will rely on community donations to help stock the fridge.

There are some suggestions and some limits on what can be accepted, based on food and community safety standards.

Acceptable donations include non-perishable goods that are not expired, fresh produce, hygiene and personal care products, school safe snacks, and easy to make meals.

Items like expired or rotten food, alcohol, open packages, raw meat, unlabeled food, homemade food / leftovers, and clothes or cleaning supplies cannot be accepted.
