MONTRÉAL AGGLOMERATION DECLARES A STATE OF EMERGENCY

On Friday, March 27, 2020, the urban agglomeration of Montréal declared the state of emergency, in effect until April 3, as requested by the national director of public health of Québec. The local state of emergency grants exceptional powers to the urban agglomeration, enabling it to mobilize the necessary resources and workforce and conveys the latitude required to respond efficiently to ensure the wellbeing of its population.

Among other things, note that the SPVM will closely monitor parks, the Promenade du canal, public places and businesses to ensure that the prevention measures imposed by the gouvernement du Quebec are respected. It is also authorized to issue tickets if necessary.

THE SPVM CALLS FOR COLLABORATION

For several days, patrol teams have intervened to ensure compliance with government directives on social distancing. The SPVM calls on the population to continue to collaborate and respect the essential instructions.
Citizens wishing to report situations that violate these directives are invited to call 911.

TEMPORARY CAR SHELTERS - EXTENDED DEADLINE

Under the current circumstances, please note that temporary car shelters, which were initially authorized until April 15, are now tolerated until May 15, inclusively.

SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BELLEVUE CANAL NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE

Parks Canada has announced that all of its facilities, including the Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal National Historic Site, will remain closed until further notice.
We also remind you that the Promenade du canal is also closed as a preventive measure.

SUSPENSION OF REM CONSTRUCTION SITES

Following directives from the gouvernement du Québec, all REM work sites have ceased operations until April 13.

Note that the traffic obstruction on Chemin Sainte-Marie scheduled from March 18 to April 24 between 19,925 Chemin Sainte-Marie and Rue de l'Anse-à-l'Orme is temporarily removed. It will be reinstalled on April 14, 2020, unless the government advises otherwise.

FLOOD WATERS

CURENT STATUS UPDATE

Lac des Deux-Montagnes: The current water level is still NORMAL.

Lac St-Louis: The current water level is a little above the "threshold of minor flooding".

HOW CAN I BE PREPARED?

In the event that floods occur again this year, the current situation with COVID-19 could make it harder to find voluteers and obtain other help and support services.

It is therefore very IMPORTANT that you take all the necessary measures to properly prepare yourself.

Be proactive!

Get informed! Know what to do if the water goes up and prepare as much as possible.
