Housing Data

The City tracks and reports housing data to Council each quarter.

Below are the statistics for the number of homes issued building permits and development permits, as well as their average approval timelines.

Q3 covers July, August and September and YTD is January 1 – September 30.

Housing Permits Issued: Development Permits & Building Permits

No major projects were issued permits in Q3, but we had significant projects approved earlier in the year (Q2 had 1001 Timmins St with 192 units and 372 Martin St with 75 units issued). Note that the numbers include 89 units of student housing in the new build at Okanagan College.

Housing Permits Issued: 2025 YTD by Unit Type

90% of new units issued permits in 2025 so far are for apartments, showing Penticton is densifying. Four projects make up that number: 286 Rigsby St (48 units), Student Housing (89 units), 372 Martin St (75 units), and 1001 Timmins St (192 units).
