As summer heats up,it's time to embrace the abundance of activities available throughout our city to keep you and your family active and entertained. The City of Prince George continues to champion community recreation by supporting various associations that offer recreational opportunities for all ages. 

In addition to the offerings from our Community Associations, you'll find a selection of activities presented by local nonprofit organizations listed below.

Looking for Something Fun and Free to do This Summer? 

Get active at the new Jumpstart Multi Sport Court at Carrie Jane Gray Park.

Stroll Along the accessible paved trail at Ginters.

Hike around beautiful Ferguson Lake.

Walk your leashed dog along one of our river trails.

BBQ with your family at one of our many neighbourhood parks - available without making a booking and paying the fees.

Book a Special Event at a Park

Curious About the Booking Process?

Although not required, you can secure a spot for a private event at a popular park by booking it in advance. Please note: we do not monitor events booked in outdoor spaces. Parks are always open and are welcome for public use. You can reserve a park space for private events such as birthdays, graduations, weddings, reunions, or larger community events. Park rental fees as well as rules and regulations are available on our website.

Community Programs

Engage Sport - Park Play Days

During July and August, we will be hosting free Park Play Days for children aged 2 to 12. Our Program Leaders will lead physical literacy games and group play for anyone that wants to be active at the park.

Children aged 6-12 may be dropped off to play!
Younger children are welcome with a caregiver present

Come and visit for an afternoon of fun! Play Buggy Bingo in the Garden! Enjoy FREE children's recycle crafts!

For the parents / adults we have Information on Household Waste Reduction, collecting rainwater, organic pest control, composting and recycling.

Spend your Summer Making Art with Two Rivers Gallery

Interesting inventions, jungle explorers, superheroes and more - there's lots of fun to be had at Two Rivers Gallery this summer break. Classes are weekly and run from July to August for grades 1 to 7.

Hands On, Minds On: Get Excited About Science at The Exploration Place

Science Alliance Day Camps teach kids about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) in a fun, "hands-on, minds-on" interactive setting. Through experiments, activities, games, and more, we have gotten local kids excited about science and learning since 1996.

Weekly camps run from July 2nd to August 23rd. Secure your spot today!

Help us Make Prince George the Most Active Community in Canada!

There's still time to join the YMCA this month in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge! This initiative encourages everyone in Canada to get active throughout the month of June, ultimately recorgnizing Canada's Most Active Community and awarding it with $100,000 to support local physical activity and sport initiatives.
