September 2021 Return to Campus News

A full return to campus will begin on September 7, 2021, as part of Step 4 of the BC Restart plan. Please stay tuned and check your inbox as new guidelines for access and activities unfold within the School and on campus for the 2021/22 Winter Session.

While we anticipate courses to be primarily delivered in person, there will be a limited selection of online courses available. To view which KIN courses are in person or online, use the Course Schedule search tool, and/or see the KIN Return to Campus webpage here.

This week the BC provincial government announced that a BC Vaccine Card will now be introduced, taking effect on September 13, 2021. Members of the UBC Community will be required to show proof of having received the COVID-19 vaccination in order to access a number of activities, including indoor ticketed sporting events, indoor and patio dining in restaurants, fitness centres, casinos, and indoor organized events. You can read the full announcement here.

The BC Vaccine Card will apply to post-secondary campuses for those participating in activities such as varsity and intramural sports and student clubs. Student housing will also be part of the public health order. The requirement for proof of vaccination in student housing will come into effect on September 7, 2021. Further guidance will be developed in the coming days in consultation with public health.

We highly encourage all students to get both their vaccinations. COVID-19 vaccinations are free for all UBC students, including international students. Visit the British Columbia government website here to register for your vaccine.

Masks Mandatory in Indoor Public Spaces

As of Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, masks must be worn in all indoor public spaces throughout B.C. to help slow the transmission of COVID-19 as B.C. prepares for the fall and respiratory illness season.

Indoor settings of post-secondary institutions include: classrooms, labs, lobbies, hallways, stariwells, and elevators. To read more, click below.
