Prescribed Burn in Levirs Avenue/Kimberley Nature Park Area

Weather permitting, the Kimberley Fire Department, in collaboration with the Cranbrook Fire Zone, will be conducting a prescribed burn on 20 hectares of City-owned land in the Levirs Avenue/Nature Park area later this week. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to reduce wildfire hazards along the west flank of the City.

The burn will target cured grass, branches, twigs, and litter from shrubs. Residents should expect smoke to be present during the day and overnight for several nights, depending on weather conditions. Crews will be on-site for several days to extinguish burning material and limit smoke impacts.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email fire@kimberley.ca.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to enhance the safety of our community.
