1 year data retention for Zoom & Teams recordings Fall 2023

In October 2023, UBC Record's Management will implement an automated one-year retention policy for video recordings. This data retention schedule will affect all employees on both campuses.

While users are not required to move their videos, if they are more than one year old and no action is taken, these videos will be automatically disposed of according to the one-year automated retention schedule. LEARN MORE...

Creating Comms that won't be mistaken for phishing

Putting together a survey invite, newsletter or other communication for the UBC community that does not confuse faculty and staff can be difficult, especially when UBC Cybersecurity is spending time training employees on what to report. Daily FASmail sending limits

Beginning October 11, a daily limit of 4,000 outbound email messages was implemented for FASmail accounts. This limit is in effect daily from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm PT to prevent compromised FASmail user accounts from being used to distribute large volumes of spam and phishing emails. PeopleSoft Decommissioning

  • UBC Wireless Maintenance - Saturday, Oct 22 - Sunday Oct 23, 10pm-2am 
    • The campus wireless network will be undergoing maintenance from October 22, 2022, 22:00 PT to October 23, 2022, 02:00 PT. During this time, there will be sporadic outages to all WiFi services.

  • UBC ARC Alliance RAC 2022 Deadline
    | November 2, 2022 |
    • Interested in applying for additional research storage and computing resources? The Digital Research Alliance of Canada ("the Alliance") has two competitions that can help you access resources needed to conduct your research:
      • The Resources for Research Group (RRG) competition is for researchers who require computing, storage and cloud resources beyond what is given by Rapid Access Service (RAS),
      • The Resources Platforms and Portals (RPP) competition is aimed at researchers who wish to improve access to shared datasets, enhance existing online research tools and facilities or advance national or international research collaborations.

        RAC applications must be submitted by November 2, 2022.
