10-Year Financial Plan Available Online for Public Review

Given the many competing priorities for the municipal budget, we invite you to explore what is proposed and provide your input. This will assist Council as upcoming financial decisions are made.

Budget discussions for the 2026-35 Financial Plan are as follows:

  • Nov 25 - Council will discuss Special Operating Projects and the Capital Plan.
  • Dec 2 – Council will review Utility Fees and Charges for Water, Wastewater and Solid Waste Utilities.
  • Dec 9 – Council will review all aspects of the budget prior to the public info night.
  • Dec 10 – The public is invited to our annual Budget Information Night from 6-8 p.m. This year’s event will be held at the Howe Sound Inn, and will include a facilitated discussion with Council and the public.

Weigh in and tell us what you would prioritize, and what you would de-prioritize. Municipal budgets must be balanced and can’t run a deficit. Increases to one area of the budget must therefore be balanced with either new revenue streams, or decreased spending in another area.

Visit letstalksquamish.ca/budget-2026 to explore our online budget tool, find event dates and Council links, and ways to provide input.

District Land Sale Entering Final Phase with Proceeds to Support Facilities Projects Underway

The District is near completion of a land sale agreement with two numbered companies held by Solterra Acquisitions Corp. (‘Solterra’) for a total of 8.5 acres of municipal-owned land in the Squamish Business Park. The sale is for 50 per cent of the 17-acre ‘Lot 38/39’ at 1221 and 1311 Pioneer Way, which the District has actively marketed for sale or lease over the past year. The sale is scheduled to close December 9.

The land sale proceeds total $13.27 million and are required to support the District’s 2025-29 Financial Plan. The proceeds will support various facility upgrades underway including the Public Works facility replacement project anticipated to be complete in summer 2026.
