SHORT-TERM RENTAL UPDATES 2023

Following the Short Term Rental (STR) Program annual review on February 14, the District is initiating several program changes to improve licensing administration, address barriers identified by licensees, and support ongoing enforcement and compliance efforts. Changes include:

  • Removing STR-specific utility fees.
  • Temporary Use Permit (TUP) renewal cost is reduced and permit terms are extended from 2 to 3 years.
  • TUP applications are now accepted year-round.
  • STR business licence applications received part way through the year are pro-rated.

Beginning April 3, the District will be accepting new TUP applications for a limited number of Secondary Suites or Accessory Dwellings. STR TUPs will continue to be capped at a total of 30 dwelling units. Applications will be accepted on a first-come basis.
