Longitudinal Analysis and Multi-level Modelling of Population Health Data | MAY 1 - JULY 23

Population Data BC and the University of Victoria are jointly running a 12-week online course designed to serve the needs of researchers who analyze and model longitudinal data in population health research.

Long wait times for surgery persist across Canada

New data from the Canadian Institute for Health Information shows that patients continue to experience long wait times for hip and knee replacement surgery, with around 937,000 fewer surgeries performed in Canada over the course of the pandemic. LEARN MORE.

Higher risk of death after heart attack for low-income 

Despite vastly different health care systems, low-income patients across six different countries have mortality rates that are 10 to 20 percent greater than their high-income peers, according to a new study from ICES, Harvard University and others READ MORE.

Potential screening gap for Fabry disease in Manitoba

Data from the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy were used to identify everyone in Manitoba who may have undiagnosed Fabry Disease. The study suggests that administrative health databases may help identify patients at higher risk of rare conditions. READ MORE.

NEW: Supportive housing data set available in BC

A new data set featuring de-identified supportive housing tenancies is available for academic researchers to request through the Data Innovation Program, supported by Population Data BC, adding to more than 40 data sets available through the DI Program. LEARN MORE.

New PREMs and PROMs Toolkit

Unité de soutien SSA Québec has developed a toolkit that provides definitions of Patient-Reported Outcome and Experience Measures (PROMs and PREMs) to help organizations better incorporate these concepts in their work. The toolkit is available in English and in French.
