Guild AGM

Our annual general meeting will be held, via zoom, on Monday, January 9, 2023

During this meeting we will:

  • elect a new board of directors,
  • receive and consider executive reports and financial statements for the year ending October 31, 2022
  • transact any other relevant business

Zoom information will be sent out one week prior to the meeting.
We encourage all to attend.

Meeting Show & Tell Reminder and Details

  • If you would like your project to be included in the December in person Show & Tell, there will be a white board at the meeting to write your name on to indicate that you have a quilt to share
  • During your presentation of the quilt please be sure to say:
    • Your name
    • Your instagram handle if you have one (Please speak slowly as there is someone recording your information.)
  • Please share a story about your quilt and explain why you think it's modern
  • Let us know if you don't want it shared on social media

Executive Vacancies

There are currently two vacancies on your guild’s executive: Secretary and Education Coordinator.

Being on the executive is a great way to meet people and work together while contributing to the guild.

We’ve all volunteered with the guild and would be happy to offer guidance and share ideas based on our experience. You won’t be on your own!

The new term will begin at the AGM in January. If you’d like more information, please reach out to:
president@vancouvermodernquiltguild.ca

WIPs

A Note from Loretta:

The 2022 WIP program is ending please make sure I have all of your finished quilts.

If you emailed me, I have recorded those, but if you only showed them at a meeting, I may or may not have received information to record the finished project.

It’s up to each of you to check any emails you sent me, or email me so you get a ticket for each finished quilt.

I will be doing the draws next Saturday or Sunday via Zoom with some other VMQG members, and etransfer the winnings out.

Good Luck!
Loretta

Holiday Gift Swap

Please bring a wrapped, not tagged, gift to the December meeting.

The value should be under $10.

Sewing-related is preferred. It could be a little something that you’ve made or even something thrifted or re-gifted. We’ll play a fun game!

Block Lotto

Bring your completed blocks to be entered into the draw to win ALL the blocks.

This month’s block is fun and quick.

Block Lotto Instructions

We will pause Block Lotto for January and February while we meet on Zoom.

Watch for instructions for the March block, coming out in February’s newsletter.

Covenant House call for quilts

We are still accepting quilts for Covenant House and hope to deliver them within the holiday season.

Our goal is 24 quilts.

Guidelines are:

  • Lap size to no larger than double bed size. Lap size varies so please consider whether the quilt you’re considering donating is large enough to cuddle under while reading a book or watching a movie.
  • Must be washable
  • Neutral colours, not gender specific
  • No triggering themes, (violence, obscenities)
