Putting Patients in the Driver's Seat

Interior Health area residents are now offered 24-hour secure online access to their health information via MyHealthPortal, a new tool which can be accessed through the health authority’s website. It’s an easy and handy way to keep track of upcoming appointments and hospital visit history, lab results and diagnostic imaging reports.

PVN patient partners were consulted during the process of developing and testing the tool. An article in Interior Health Magazine shares more about the project and features an interview with Diane Edlund, our patient partner from the Okanagan. We’re so proud: it’s always great to see the results of PVN partnerships!

How to Connect with Other Patient and Health Care Partners in Our PVN Facebook Group

Are you a member of our PVN Patient & Health Care Partners Facebook Group yet? Our closed group is a safe space where patient and health care partners can connect and talk about what is going on in the Network. In this blog post we explain how the group works as well as how to join and connect with other PVN members across BC.

Nominate Your Family Doctor

Every year, the BC College of Family Physicians recognizes one family doctor with the My Family Doctor Award. All nominations come from patients who would like to share a personal story about their family doctor’s impact on their health or the health of a family member.

The award will be given out during the Spring BC College of Family Physicians Family Medicine Conference, and both the physician and patient involved in the winning submission will receive paid travel to attend the event in Vancouver. Learn more about the award and send your nomination by March 31.

Article of Interest: "Engaging Patients Early and Often Leads to Better Health Care"

The College of Pharmacists of British Columbia published an interesting article written by our engagement leader for the Fraser Valley region, Jami Brown, on the importance of engaging patients early and often for better health care.

In the article Jami discusses the concept of patient engagement and provides useful tips for health care partners on how to effectively engage patients, such as identifying the goals, aims and purposes of engaging patients.

Read the article and learn from Jami’s experience.
