COVID-19 Patient Testing Handout

HPEPH has adapted a patient resource from Peterborough Public Health to help guide patients on what they can expect following COVID-19 testing including information on isolation requirements, test results and physical distancing recommendations. All providers who are conducting COVID-19 testing are strongly encouraged to distribute the “I Have Been TESTED for COVID-19 – Now what should I do? Follow-up Instructions” resource to all patients being tested.

PPE Suppliers for Local Health Care Providers

During the Public Health Teleconference for Primary Care Professionals on Wednesday, June 16, 2020, inquiries were made regarding where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) can be ordered and accessed. For regular ordering of supplies the Workplace PPE Supplier Directory is recommended, however if despite stewardship and conservation efforts, there is an urgent requirement for PPE (<7 days of supply remaining), the South East LHIN has a Critical PPE Intake Form available.

If your critical PPE request is not answered within the required timeline, you may contact your appropriate regional PPE lead to bring your request to the Ministry’s Emergency Operation Centre (MEOC).Our Regional PPE Leads are: Paul McAuley: Paul.McAuley@3so.ca and Leslie Motz: LMotz@lh.ca

Patient Screening Guidance Document Updates

On June 11, 2020, the Ministry of Health released an updated Patient Screening Guidance Document. This document is indicated for use by all Health Care Providers to ensure consistency when screening all suspected or confirmed cases of COVID19, including patients and staff. Persons who test positive to the screening should return home and consider testing for COVID-19.

30-Day Prescription Limits Lifted

As prescription medication supplies stabilize across the province, the Ministry of Health has lifted the 30-day supply limit on prescriptions, allowing patients to once again fill/re-fill 100-day supplies of medications from their pharmacy or dispensing physician, as appropriate.
