Safety Requirements and Hazardous Materials

The City’s Building Department has redeveloped site safety protocols to ensure the safety of its inspection staff. Effective immediately any works on buildings constructed prior to 1990 will require a hazardous materials assessment prior to a building/plumbing permit being issued. At this point there appears to be very little grey area in exemptions, but we can evaluate on a case-by-case basis for small projects or where older buildings have been previously renovated.

Our safety relies heavily on your companies safety protocols.  We hope to continue working together to ensure the safety of everyone involved in renovation projects.

Digital Drawing - Permit Submissions

The Building Department is moving to implement a full digital building permit submission system.  Until we go-live, we are encouraging the submission of digital drawings for our review and issuance.

We are using Bluebeam Revue to review, comment and mark up the drawings.  Your Building Official will contact you if your project drawings are being issued as a digital set.
