Mayor's Message

Mayor Steve Pellegrini

On behalf of King Township Council, welcome to the September edition of the King Bulletin. Great things are happening in King this month!

The nights are getting cooler, students are returning to school and fall events continue to bring us together here in beautiful King.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Connecting with King

In August, the Township updated its phone system, from traditional desk phones to a telephone system that operates from an application on the desktops of our computers. What this means is those with a telephone extension have been issued a new phone number. Those with numbers that can be dialed directly have kept the same phone number.

If you are not sure how to reach your contact at the Township, please call our main line 905-833-5321 and press 9 for the auto-attendant and say the name of the person or press 0 to speak to a ServiceKING representative who will be happy to assist you.

Stay Safe, Shop King

Let’s all remember to watch for the students on the streets and sidewalks this month. And please thank one of King’s crossing guards as they do that important job of keeping students safe.

Please continue to volunteer, shop locally as much as you can and visit king.ca for the latest news on all things King.

Sincerely,

Mayor Steve Pellegrini

King Offers Value for Tax Dollars, a Strong Quality of Life

King scored exceptionally high marks with residents in February when we asked what you thought of the Township’s programs and services and life here in King. The results from the statistically valid citizen survey by IPSOS reported that 95 percent of citizens said that King offers a strong quality of life for residents. (See the full report here: www.king.ca/citizensurvey).

We also heard that there is room for improvement when it comes to value for tax dollars. In response, and to help demonstrate the value residents get for their tax dollars, King’s teams have created some videos to provide you with detailed information. Visit the Township’s website at www.king.ca/serviceprofiles to learn about the service levels you can expect. View the short videos at www.king.ca/propertytaxes and www.king.ca/parks

Clean Yards By-law 2016-68 sets out minimum standards for properties in the Township including some rules on litter, waste and property maintenance to help ensure that properties are safe, clean and attractive in relation to adjacent properties.

Reminder to Owners and Tenants:

  • All properties must be kept free and clear of long grass and weeds.
  • All properties are to be free of garbage, litter, yard waste, standing water, storage bins and demolition project material, and construction equipment.
  • All properties need to be clear of derelict vehicles, including vehicles that are not currently licensed for operation.

The Clean Yards By-law is the Township’s tool for addressing and responding to concerns about property maintenance. Bylaw Enforcement Officers work with property owners and tenants through education to achieve voluntary compliance, but alternatively orders may be issued to obtain compliance with the by-law standards.

For more information on Clean Yards please visit our website at www.king.ca.
