Happy New Year! As we gear up for another year of outdoor thrills in beautiful British Columbia, let's make 2024 unforgettable. Here's to exploring our stunning province, forging lasting connections, and fostering a community rooted in a shared love for BC's natural wonders.

In the spirit of our upcoming adventures, let's keep these key points in mind:

  1. Safety First: Whether scaling mountains or paddling serene lakes, prioritize safety. Check gear, be weather-wise, and stay connected with your fellow adventurers.

  2. Leave No Trace: BC's landscapes are treasures – let's keep them that way. Pack out what you pack in and leave minimal impact. Our commitment to conservation ensures future generations can enjoy these wild spaces.

  3. Celebrate Diversity: Our BC outdoor family is as diverse as our landscapes. Let's celebrate our differences and create an inclusive space where everyone feels at home.

  4. Share BC's Beauty: Got a favorite BC gem? Share it with the group! Your local insights can inspire others to explore new corners of our province.

  5. Plan Smart: From coastal hikes to mountain escapes, thoughtful planning enhances our adventures. Collaborate, communicate, and let's make the most of every BC outing.

Plowing of road and upper parking lot to access trail to Garibaldi Lake

BC Parks plans to intermittently plow the access road and parking stalls for the Garibaldi Lake trailhead in Winter 2023-2024, but travelers should be prepared for snow and ice, ensure their vehicles are winter-ready, and follow safety protocols, with urgent road issues directed to Miller Capilano and non-urgent concerns reported to BC Parks staff.

Changes to the Sea-to-Sky LRMP Winter Recreation Zoning

Starting in April 2009, new rules say there's a special no-snowmobile area around Brew Lake for skiing. But, under pressure, the Miller Bench area will now allow snowmobiles from December 1st to April 15th, making some people worried about how climate change might affect winter fun.
