Student award recipient Sia Foryoh inspires students and guests at the Fall Entrance Awards Celebration

A single co-parent and former refugee, Sia Foryoh is no stranger to new beginnings. When she started looking for a more fulfilling career, she found it through the BCIT Broadcast and Online Journalism program. To begin her educational journey, she received The Global News Scholars Entrance Award and shared her gratitude in a moving speech at the BCIT Fall Entrance Awards Celebration event: “Your commitment to investing in education speaks volumes.”

Celebrating BCIT Graduates: Winter 2024 Convocation

650 students crossed the stage in three in-person ceremonies on March 5 and 6. Joining more than 250,000 individuals in the BCIT alumni community, the first graduating class of 2024 will go forward to create a meaningful impact in BC, and beyond. BCIT appoints Cynthia Petrie as Vice President, External

BCIT is pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia Petrie as the Institute's Vice President, External. In this permanent role, Cynthia will champion BCIT, its vision, and mission, providing executive leadership to several departments, including Advancement, Marketing and Communications, Stakeholder Relations, and Indigenous Initiatives and Partnerships. Gift of software from QPS enhances learning outcomes for BCIT students

Students in the Geomatics Engineering Technology department can now access more than a dozen pieces of hydrographic software thanks to QPS (Quality Positioning Services, Inc). This leading-edge software will provide our students with industry-leading technology to enhance their learning outcomes in hydrographic surveying, planning, and data processing.

 

A new section of Guichon creek re-emerges, restoring rare habitat 

Culverted in the 1960s, Guichon Creek is being restored. The process was expedited when a sinkhole appeared cause by damage to the underground culvert, leading BCIT to develop a long-term plan to daylight the creek across the Burnaby campus. In the coming months, the area will be transformed into a richer habitat for wildlife, restored route for salmon, and a living lab for BCIT students. Read more.

 

BCIT Accounting students win first place in national business valuation challenge

A team of enterprising BCIT students took first at the national Business Valuation Challenge organized by the Chartered Business Valuators Institute (CBV). For their win, students Paul de Blois, Maya Khera, Daniel Ryu, and Sam Woo, received $10,000 and complimentary enrolment in Level 1 of the CBV program of studies.

Open Education Pathology Textbook features collaboration with BCIT, Lifelabs

BCIT and LifeLabs, Canada's leading provider of medical diagnostic services, announced an innovative new chapter in the Open Education Pathology Textbook. This free open-source text is enabling better access to accurate information about our health, and the new chapter covers blood testing, and seeks to demystify blood collection, procession, interpreting, and reporting. Read more.

The University Women's Club of Vancouver has been supporting students for over 50 years. Through bursaries, scholarships, and awards The Club provides financial aid to students at nine accredited post-secondary institutes including BCIT.
