Welcome the BMS Communications Assistant, Catherine Zhu!

Catherine is a current Year 4 BMS student, with a specific interest in multimedia storytelling and using digital communications to help build community! She’s super excited to help share stories from the BMS community, support students throughout their journey in Media Studies, and showcase the amazing projects they’re working on. As part of the first cohort of BMS students, she’s happy to also help answer any questions about the program!

Volunteers Wanted for FIPR Filming

Sila Goral, and current 4th year FIPR student, is producing a short film as her thesis, called On the Road Again. They are currently holding auditions and need casting assistants (2 per day) to help. Volunteer Call for CiTR Accessibility Collective 

The Accessibility Collective at CiTR aims to explore issues of inclusion, equity, and accesibility for people with diverse cognitive and physical abilities. They are looking for student volunteers interested in hands-on experience in broadcasting and creating inclusive space. JRNL 520A: Decoding Social Media 

Its not too late to register for JRNL 520A: Decoding Social Media with the UBC School of Journalism!

The course is currently being offered to BMS Year 4 students under the course code ASTU 401K. If you are interested in registering for JRNL 520A, please register in the waitlist for ASTU 401K and you eligibility will be reviewed. You will be automatically registered for hte course if you meet the criteria.

Deadline to withdraw with a W standing - Oct 11

Now that the add/drop deadline for Term 1 courses has passed, you may still be wondering about dropping classes with a W standing. For more information, please visit the Student Services website below. 

Registration Deadlines

BMS Advising Hours - Mondays 

For the remainder of the term, BMS Advising hours will be on Mondays, with pre-booked appointments available between 10am-12pm, and drop in appointmetns from 1-4pm. If you would like to book an appointment, please email arts.mediastudies@ubc.ca.
