Safety Capsule: Dress to Survive

Are you well dressed in case of survival?

Here is a short safety capsule produced by Smart Pilot which will give you some advice.

Your photo:
If possible in high definition. Minimum format: 1024 pixels in its largest dimension. Information required :

  • LOCATION where the photo was taken
  • The NAME of the PHOTOGRAPHER or the PHOTOGRAPHER
  • YOUR full NAME (note that only members in good standing can participate)
  • You have read and accept the complete rules available on the Aviateurs.Québec website by clicking HERE

Functioning :

Submit your photo to photos@aviateurs.quebec

The photo placed in the banner will be chosen by the person(s) administering the contest.

For subsequent editions of the newsletter, the chosen photo will be chosen from among all the photos received since the beginning of the current year. At the end of the year, the photos (maximum 26) that have been chosen for the banner will be submitted to an external jury to determine the three winning photographers.

First prize: $150 gift certificate + trophy
Second prize: $100 gift certificate + trophy
Third prize: $50 gift certificate + trophy

10 other winners will be determined by drawing lots among ALL the photographers who participated during the year: $55 credit applicable against a membership renewal, a cap or a polo shirt of the winner's choice.

Transport Canada: Exemption - CAR 421.03, Flight Crew Permits, Licenses and Ratings

This exemption, in effect since November 18, 2022, aims to allow candidates for the Pilot Permit - Autogyro, Recreational Pilot Permit - Airplane and Private Pilot License to attempt to pass the written exams with at least 5 hours of total flight experience and allow all other applicants to attempt to pass the written examinations with only 25% of the total flight experience required for the issue of the permit, license or rating, until on November 17, 2027, on a temporary basis.

FAA Airworthiness Directive for Mooney
Model M20C, M20D, M20E, M20F, and M20G Aircraft 

The FAA announces a new Airworthiness Directive (AD) for certain Mooney International Corporation Model M20C, M20D, M20E, M20F, and M20G aircraft. This directive was prompted by reports of cracks in the hybrid material elevator trim weights. This directive will be in effect from February 13, 2023 and will require a visual inspection before the next flight.

February 18: An RVA on skis and a training session in Saint-Jean-des-Piles are added to the list

It is with great pleasure that the Mauricie Pilots Association (APM) invites you to an RVA on skis on the Saint-Maurice River in Saint-Jean-des-Piles.

WHEN: Saturday February 18 from 9:00 a.m. (postponed to 7 p.m. in case of bad weather)

LOCATION: Saint-Jean-des-Piles

On the Saint-Maurice River, opposite the Café-Bistro Le 2800 du Parc

Runway: 18-36 (Located on the Saint-Maurice River - requires skiing)

Not on skis? No problem! It is also very easy to get there by car to enjoy it.

You must communicate your intentions to other traffic on this frequency.

DESCRIPTION: A snow trail will be temporarily set up on the majestic Saint-Maurice River near Saint-Jean-des-Piles. An appointment for pilots on skis who want to discover this little corner of paradise.

The activity will be complemented by a knowledge update. This will be given on the mezzanine of 2800. The training will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end around noon (duration approximately 2:30). To register, click on the following link: Knowledge update Saint-Jean-des-Piles

As it is a café-bistro, it will be possible to dine on site ( see menu ) following the training. Le 2800 also offers the rental of accommodation units (small chalets) if you intend to extend your stay. However, you must reserve as soon as possible at 819-538-7000, 1.

The Mauricie Pilots Association inaugurates the Altitude 1963 restaurant at the Trois-Rivières airport in its own way

It was with great pleasure that the MPA's annual holiday dinner was held last Saturday evening at the new CYRQ airport restaurant "Altitude 1963".

Everyone very much appreciated being able to come together after too long a break in our event calendar.

Next step... two APM RVAs to come for February. We are waiting for you.
