Spring Virtual Classes Registration Day

Please mark your Calendars! Registration for Spring Term (May/June) BodyWorks Virtual Fitness Classes will open on Mon April 12, 2021 starting at 07:00.

If you haven't already, you will need to create an account in our new registration software.

COVID Refund Deadline

In March 2020 all classes and memberships were cancelled and / or suspended due to province-mandated COVID closures. Many of you have already inquired and received either a pro-rated refund or credit. If you have not yet received a credit or refund please be advised that as of Mon April 5th 2021, refunds will no longer be offered, no exceptions. If you believe that you are still owed a refund or credit, please:

  • Send an email to kin.outreach@ubc.ca
  • We will then verify the information and amount
  • To receive the refund or credit, you will have to first create an online account in our New Online Registration System
  • All refunds will be issued by cheque and may take 4-6 weeks to process

We must receive your request prior to Mon April 5 2021 in order to get a refund. Any requests received after this date will only be offered account credits which can be used for future programs and services.

If you have any questions please contact us prior to Mon April 5th or a refund will not be an option, only a credit.

Staff Profile - Pat Wu

Since his teenage years, Pat has believed in strength training as a means to improve sport performance, health, and confidence. He began training friends and family in high school, and his passion has only increased over time.

As a trainer, Pat brings a unique blend of formal education, field experience in various settings, and years of personal experience. He has worked with many different populations, including varsity level athletes, seniors, rehab clients, and youth.

Pat is completing his Masters of Kinesiology this May while working as a graduate strength coach for UBC men’s basketball. This experience has provided him an enhanced ability to provide long term strength and health progression and programming for individuals and groups. He believes that being a trainer is a collaborative role, and that we learn as much from our clients as they learn from us.

As an athlete, Pat has competed on the international level as a cheerleader and is a silver medalist for his province in weightlifting.

Study Recruitment - Health Promotion and Physical Activity

Led by Principal Investigator Dr. Andrea Bundon, as part of a course-based research project for KIN 464: Health Promotion and Physical Activity, if you are

  • Aged 40-60 AND
  • Live OR work on the UBC Vancouver campus

UBC Kinesiology students invite you complete their survey which is focused on identifying motivators and barriers to exercise participation. The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

Individuals who complete the survey are eligible for a draw. Prizes include

  • Two (2) $25 gift cards to UBC Bookstore OR Food Services AND
  • One (1) Fitbit.

Study Recruitment - Watson Centre Society for Brain Health

The Watson Centre Society for Brain Health is looking for participants to participate in a randomized trial looking at the impact of a 6-month cognitive training program on quality of life.

Who are we looking to participate?

  • Individuals 65 years or older
  • Otherwise healthy individuals showing early signs of cognitive impairment (*No history of brain related injury or neurological conditions such as MS, Stroke)
  • BC Residents
  • Folks with access to a computer, internet & basic computer literacy

Eligibility is assessed via a 15-20 minute phone call. Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: intervention and non-intervention.
