Sew Good Quilts
Welcome to Sew Good Quilts 2024! Thanks to all who participated last year; we donated more than 30 quilts. This year we’ll be making quilts for the refugee program at Unitarian Church Vancouver.
How can you help? There’s something for everyone; we need block makers, top and back assemblers, quilters, binders and labellers. This is a great way for you to expand your skills; try a block you’ve always wanted to sew, work in colours you’ve never used or learn to do a new type of binding. Team up with a friend or reach out to members in your area to make a group quilt.
Here are some guidelines:
- The UCV has requested twin-sized quilts, as they are the most versatile.
We will make quilts that are 60" x 72" - Quilts are needed for all ages and genders.
- Quilts can be modern or traditional.
- UCV would prefer donations as they’re ready, instead of once a year.
- Quilts must be able to go in washer and dryer.
Megan has a LOT of donated fabric. At this point, fabric is NOT needed. She has created several bundles of coordinating fabric that will be available at the April 15 for members to take away. You may also use your own 100% cotton fabric. If you can’t be at the meeting, email Megan to make other arrangements.
Feel free to use a new pattern or go with something tried and true. If you’re stuck for ideas, check out Pinterest. Here are a few that would work well:
