AIR SAFETY CHRONICLE

ELT 406 - Update your file

The Canadian Beacon Registry is an integral part of COSPAS-SARSAT, the search and rescue satellite system designed to provide alert and location data to search and rescue authorities. The Canadian Beacon Registry shares the same premises as the Canadian Mission Control Center (CMCC) at Canadian Forces Base Trenton, Ontario, and these facilities are used by search and rescue personnel during operations.

Upon receipt of a 406 MHz distress beacon signal, search and rescue authorities at the CCCM can retrieve information from the registration database, including the owner's and owner's personal information. emergency contact person and the characteristics and equipment to identify the vessel or aircraft. This information allows search and rescue services to respond appropriately.

But it is still necessary that this information is up to date.

  • Have you changed the color of your plane?
  • Have the emergency contact phone numbers changed?
  • Have you just bought a plane?
  • Did you sell your plane?

If you answer YES to any of these questions and you have an ELT 406 installed in your aircraft, you should check your file with the Canadian Beacon Registry by clicking on the image above.

Also make it a habit to do this check during your annual inspection. It could save your life.

PLANE FLIGHT DAY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE MINERVE YOUTH HOUSE

OUR RECENCY TRAINING PROGRAM

As part of its main mission which is to promote aviation safety and under the aegis of the Laplante-Duggan Fund, Aviateurs.Québec has set up a training calendar. The program is multifaceted and aims to provide both training that can serve as a credit for the purposes of  updating knowledge (RAC 401.05) as training of specific interest such as the use of Foreflight.

We had two sessions at the end of last week where more than 65 pilots received training on  take-off risk management . We congratulate them all for having reserved this time to improve their knowledge . We also thank Cargair for  providing the services of their instructors.

The calendar to come is as follows. To register, click on the session you are interested in from the following list:
