Welcome to the City of Prince George Fall Parks and Recreation E-Newsletter!

As the seasons begin to change, it's time to explore the activities offered throughout Prince George to help people stay active and engaged. The City of Prince George publishes a park and recreation e newsletter to promoted parks and recreation opportunities throughout our community.

The City of Prince George supports community associations that offer opportunities for recreation throughout our community. The City Prince George Community Association Recreation Guide is now available online through the link below and showcases all programs being offered in one place and is filled with activities and programs suitable for all ages. These programs are put on by the hard-working volunteers of our Community Associations and are open to everyone no matter where you live in Prince George.

You will also find a collection of activities offered by local nonprofit organizations listed below, as well as more information about aquatics, arenas, recreation, and parks in Prince George.

Do you love to sing?

Prince George Tapestry Singers is an active Children’s and Youth Choral performance group that strives toward a high level of artistic excellence in choral performance along with personal and social growth. Their community is diverse and inclusive; all are affirmed.

The 2023-2024 choral season will mark Tapestry Singer’s 17th Anniversary. JUNIOR Singers include Grade 4-7 students, and the SENIOR Singers include Grade 7-12 students.

Rugby is for everyBODY!

Yalenka is excited to hold another year of Ukrainian dancing. Have fun learning about a different culture, while having a great workout. Classes for 3 years old to Adult. No previous dance experience required and you don't have to be Ukrainian! Low monthly tuition, costumes provided (no hidden costume fee). Classes begin mid-September.

A fun environment to learn a new sport with a kick!

Have fun, make friends, and learn self-defence with Prince George Chito Ryu Karate. Karate trains the mind and the body. Improve your self awareness, discipline, confidence, and fitness. Young and not so young, it is never too late to start learning karate. Adults and children welcome; train on your own or as a family. Try us out for free.

Are you looking for a great opportunity that will help the young woman in your life have fun, make friends and learn to leader? Job's Daughters is for you. Job's Daughters is a a group for young women between the age of 10-20, open to any girl. We even have a group for Jobies-to-be (under 10) to join the fun. Please reach out for more info!

One year from now you'll be a year older and could know how to play an intrument.

The New Horizons Adult Band meets on Thursdays from 4:45 to 6:15 pm at First Baptist Church. Come out and enjoy some social connection while learning to play an instrument. Call 250-563-4693 for more information and the current fees.

Lessons and league play in badminton, squash, and table tennis.

Prince George Racket Sports will be offering beginner and advanced youth lessons twice a week in addition to adult drop-in programs 2-4 times per week for the sports of Badminton, Squash, and Table Tennis. These programs will be delivered by NCCP qualified coaches to uphold the standards of each sport. Registration opens September 1st 2023, programs begin September 18th 2023.

Active Living

Drop-In Hockey

Join us for a game or two of hockey during you lunch hour. Sessions take place Tuesdays & Thursdays at noon for Ages 16+

Public Skating and Special Events Drop-In Hockey

Indoor public skating season runs from October to March at the Kopar Memorial Arena and the Elksentre. Sessions are available on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Private rental times are also available for your birthday party or Special Event. Follow the link below for more information.

Come try one of our many fitness classes at the Canfor Leisure Pool and Prince George Aquatic Centre. We offer classes that assist with improving range of motion, building strength and improving cardio.

Would you like to upgrade your aquatic training or become a swimming instructor or certified professional lifeguard?

The Prince George Aquatic Centre is offering advanced aquatic and leadership training in 2023.

AFFORDABLE RECREATION FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES 

The Leisure Access Program (LAP) provides opportunities for residents with limited income to participate in a variety of recreational activities. Leisure Access participants recive complimentary swimming or skating admissions, discounts on lessons, and free transit for children 12 and under (accompanied by adult) on weekends.
