This new document presents a summary version of a publication entitled: Supporting Public Health Human Resource Planning: A Survey of Canadian Universities’ Public Health Training Programs. This publication aims to inform ongoing discussions on public health workforce planning and capacity building in Canada. You will find:

  • recent data on programs and students enrolled in and graduating from university-based public health programs in Canada (2022 data collection conducted by the NCCHPP and the NCC for Methods and Tools);
  • a recap of key findings from four previous data collections conducted since 2005 on these programs;
  • an overview of pan-Canadian initiatives developed for public health workforce planning in Canada.

The NCCHPP is looking for concrete examples of intersectoral partnerships to improve health and equity that were deployed in the context of budget cuts. We want to learn more about how you have navigated this context. Our goal is to prepare actors of these sectors to the challenges, opportunities and strategies to consider in order to address them.

Take advantage of this opportunity to raise the profile of your work and inspire colleagues across Canada and beyond! We could highlight your experience on our website, our eBulletin, our social media or in one of our webinars.

Registration is still open for the Centre for Healthy Communities 2023 Innovation Forum presented in partnership with Alberta Health Services, the Alberta Real Estate Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the NCCHPP. This year’s Forum will focus on the topic of community safety and wellbeing policies in Alberta’s communities. Our colleague Val Morrison will present on the opening panel and facilitate a breakout session entitled: Public Health and Wellbeing Policies: What Role for Communities?

Join us and engage with practice, policy, industry, and research leaders from across Alberta to share ideas for building a sustainable, healthy future for our communities!
