Proposed Update to Reflect Growth and New Provincial Rules

Coquitlam is updating its Development Cost Charges (DCC) Bylaw to ensure that new development continues to contribute its fair share toward the cost of infrastructure needed to support growth. The proposed bylaw – DCC Bylaw No. 5411, 2025 – includes revised rates and newly eligible service categories such as police and fire protection facilities. We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
