Highlights in this edition... | | Mayor's Message On behalf of King Township Council, welcome to the September edition of the King Bulletin. As we transition from the warmth of summer to the crisp days of fall, King Township is buzzing with an exciting array of programs and events that cater to everyone in our community. Whether you’re looking to stay active, connect with nature, or engage in community activities, we have something for you this season. First, I’m thrilled to announce that our drop-in sports programs are back with a refreshed schedule for the fall. Whether you're into pickleball, volleyball, basketball, or badminton, we’ve got you covered. These drop-in sessions are a fantastic way to stay active, meet new people, and have fun. The updated schedule is available at king.ca/DropInPrograms, so be sure to check out the locations and times that work best for you. Remember, these activities are open to everyone, with a small fee for participation. In addition to sports, we’re also looking forward to several community events that celebrate our shared love of nature and the environment. On Saturday, Sept. 14, join us at Cold Creek Conservation Area for a tree planting event in partnership with Ontario Streams. This is a wonderful opportunity for residents of all ages to contribute to our green spaces by planting 400 native trees and shrubs. High school students can also earn volunteer hours for their participation. Pre-registration is recommended, but drop-ins are always welcome. For more information, visit king.ca/environmentalevents. Finally, I'm excited to announce our inaugural Kingtoberfest, happening on Saturday, Oct. 19, at Cold Creek Conservation Area. This 19+ event will bring the spirit of Oktoberfest to King Township, featuring the best in German cuisine, beverages and entertainment. From bratwursts to pretzels, German beer to cider, and live polka music to Schuhplattler dancers, it’s sure to be a memorable evening. We are currently seeking vendors to help make this event a success. If you're a food, beverage, merchandise, or activity vendor interested in joining us, please apply by Sept. 10. Details can be found at king.ca/kingtoberfest. As always, I’m proud of the vibrant and engaged community we have here in King Township. Let’s make the most of this fall season by participating in the fantastic programs and events that bring us together. Please continue to volunteer, shop locally as much as you can and visit king.ca for the latest news on all things King.
