President's Message

Welcome to our End-of-Summer newsletter. I hope everyone had an opportunity to enjoy the summer, either travelling or here in beautiful Stratford.

Your Executive Committee has been working hard over these past months, and we will be kicking off a new season in September with an exciting new program!

Our first meeting will be Tuesday September 23rd at 7pm at our usual location, Stratford District Secondary School. We will continue meeting in the former Drama Room, which is accessed from the Short Street parking lot. Access is completely barrier-free and there is lots of parking available.

This is our Meet and Greet meeting - we will introduce our program theme and speakers for the year, and have the signups for all of our Interest and Advocacy groups – including some new ones. Please make sure to attend and bring your friends.

A reminder that our fees for the year are now due. The $130.00 can be paid through etransfer to cfuwstratfordtreasurer@gmail.com.

When you pay your dues, you may see a new name on the transfer record because we have a new Treasurer! Lynn Krolick joined CFUW last year after meeting us at the SLAAA event. Welcome Lynn, and a big thank you to Verna Dennis for all of her work last year.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the Meet and Greet, but first CONGRATULATIONS to all our members, especially our IWD Committee and volunteers! CFUW Stratford has been awarded a national certificate for our IWD Breakfast last spring. A high bar we will certainly meet again this year.

Looking forward,

Cambria Ravenhill

Sign-ups 2025-26

Joining an Interest Group is one of the best ways to get the most out of CFUW! Some are still enjoying getting together over the summer.

Interest Group sign-up sheets will be out at our first general meeting on Sept 23rd. Information on Interest Groups can be found on our website here.

Interest Groups

Advocacy

The Climate Change Advocacy Committee will have a table, alongside the main CFUW table at the SLAAA September 13 Open house. Our focus will be The sustainable shopping cart or sustainable shopping.

Sue Bailey, our new Advocacy chair, will set up a sign up sheet at the September 23 general meeting for a new General Advocacy Group. This will differ from the Climate Change Advocacy Committee and the Prevention of Violence against women committee. It will focus on pressing and/or time-limited issues that may require letter writing or other action. We will see if there is any interest in such a group. It would be great to have some participants sign up at the meeting.
