New supportive and affordable rental homes proposed for Squamish

The District of Squamish is proposing to deliver new housing on a District-owned site at Government Road and Centennial Way. The proposed project would offer approximately 60 supportive homes in partnership with Squamish Helping Hands and 100 affordable rental housing units in partnership with Squamish Community Housing Society (Housing Squamish) to the Squamish community.

The District of Squamish has published its 2024 Annual Report including 2024 accomplishments, 2025 and 2026 objectives, audited financial statements and permissive tax exemptions, written in accordance with the Community Charter. Re-Use-It Fair 2025

The Re-Use-It Fair is an excellent opportunity to bring unwanted usable items or take away used treasures from someone else — for FREE! You don’t have to bring something to the Re-Use-It Fair to participate.

Planning on visiting Brennan Park Recreation Centre tomorrow? Please note the following updates:  

  • Access to the arena through the lobby is currently unavailable due to renovation work.
  • Parking in front of the arena will be limited due to increased visitors.
  • An accessible drop-off point will be available near the main entrance.

SLRD Emergency Communications and Public Notification Plan

The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District (SLRD) is working on the development of an Emergency Communications/Public Notification Plan to guide its emergency public notification process. Community input is an important aspect of developing this plan.

Please take a moment to complete a brief, anonymous survey, which takes an estimated 10 minutes to complete. The information provided will help build a plan that will ensure the SLRD is communicating efficiently, effectively and promptly before, during and after an emergency.

Join this Year's Shoreline Clean Up

Celebrate World Oceans Day together by caring for our local shorelines. Volunteers will be removing garbage and invasive species from the trails and parking lot bordering the Mamquam Blind Channel in Squamish. Gloves, bags, and tools will be provided. There will also be some light snacks and coffee. Please wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather - the event will happen rain or shine!

Co-hosted by the Átl'ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound Marine Stewardship Initiative, Squamish River Watershed Society, and Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council.

When: Sunday June 8, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Where: Oceanfront (gravel parking lot), Squamish.

Landfill Closure

The landfill will be closed on June 16 for scale re-calibration. This routine maintenance ensures the weigh scale provides accurate readings and meets regulatory standards.

Bus Stop Temporarily Relocated

The bus stop at Brennan Park Recreation Centre has been relocated closer to the Centre's entrance due to construction work. Due to vehicles blocking bus access by parking in the “5-minute drop-off” zone outside the arena, this area will now be designated as a NO PARKING zone while renovations are underway to ensure safety and maintain access for buses.

Steam Room Progress

The reopening of the steam room remains on schedule for late June.


Field Allocation

Field allocation requests for September 1 to February 28, 2026 are now being accepted.

Request Deadline: Friday, June 27, 2025.
Field Closures: All fields except the Artificial Turf Field: December 15 to January 15 (weather dependent)

The Field Allocation Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, 2025. Please contact Recreation and Culture at 604-898-3604 with any questions.

Get your kids outdoors this summer! Opportunities for your kids to learn new skills, make new friends and have a lot of fun! Offering a range of activities and games each day including yoga, hiking, gymnastics, soccer and much more!
*Note this camp does NOT run out of Brennan Park Recreation Centre. This camp will meet at Rose Park.

National Lifeguard - Train to be a lifeguard
Course starts July 4

Teamwork, leadership, communication and prevention are emphasized in this 44-hour course required to obtain employment at swimming pools in British Columbia. A manual is included in the course fee. Participants must:

  • Be 15 years old by the last day of the course in order to participate
  • Have completed Bronze Cross (does not need to be current)
  • Have completed Standard First Aid (recommend it be current)

Grief and Loss Conversations
Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. until June 26

Are you grieving the loss of someone close to you? Whether the loss is recent or not, grief can take over our days. Come and join this free 8-week evening session at The 55 Activity Centre for peer support facilitated by highly experienced volunteers. Drop-ins and late additions welcome but registration highly encouraged.
