Concerts in the park

Support Nanaimo's amazing local musicians, and enjoy our beautiful green spaces during these FREE for all-ages performances this summer! Don't forget to bring a chair and come prepared for weather.

On July 25, from 6 pm - 7 pm join us at Colliery Dam Park to enjoy Gab Gosselin who creates music where French lyrics constitute the core of his work. Although Gab performs in French, he interacts in English with the audience and everyone is welcome at the show.

On July 14, from 6 pm - 7 pm come down to Maffeo Sutton park and listen to the Grinning Barretts, a 7 piece, bagpipe strangling, vocal chord mangling, Vancouver Island Celtic punk rock frenzy. They've taken Celtic sounds and mashed them up with gritty punk rock passion to create a wild ride of originals, traditionals and additionals that will move your feet into jig formation & bring out your inner rabblerouser.

FireSmartTM planting

Did you know? You can purchase plants with a FireSmartTM Plant Tag!  What you plant and where you plant can make a difference when it comes to a wildfire and protecting your home.  Plants at your local participating stores with a FireSmartTM Plant Tag are less likely to burn.  You can also use the fire-resistant plant tool to do your own research on which plants are FireSmartTM.  Here is a list of garden centres in the surrounding area that carry plants with the FireSmartTM Plant Tags:
