Highlights in this edition... | | Mayor's Message On behalf of King Township Council, welcome to the March edition of the King Bulletin. Governor General’s Medal in Architecture I’m thrilled to share some news about how King continues building a reputation for facilities that are not only functional and innovative but also enhance the quality of life for our community members. Recently, I had the honour of travelling to Ottawa to receive the Governor General’s Medal in Architecture on behalf of the King City Public Library and Seniors Centre. The award ceremony took place at Rideau Hall, where Governor General Mary Simon presented this prestigious honour. The King City Public Library and Seniors Centre, designed by Kongats Architects, is one of 12 recipients of this year's award, celebrating outstanding achievements in recently completed projects by Canadian architects. This recognition highlights the architectural excellence and cultural significance of our community hub. The jury praised the building for its innovative design, resembling an open hand with wood-lined study rooms and light-filled reading/activity rooms offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The use of stone, wood and glass creates a harmonious and inviting space for all generations. Volunteer Appreciation Awards deadline is March 9 Volunteers are the lifeblood of a healthy community, and their tireless work and selfless actions make King Township a better place for all of us. Did you know that nearly 12.7 million Canadians volunteer annually, contributing approximately 2 billion hours of their time? This spirit of giving is truly inspiring and vital to our community's well-being. Help us honour those who make our community a better place by nominating them for a Volunteer Appreciation Award. Last year, 10 amazing individuals were recognized for their contributions in areas like youth sports, arts, charity events, libraries and the King Township Food Bank.
