Airport – Broadway Corridor Project

Site work has begun on the installation of artwork for the Vedder Roundabout, featuring the Halq'eméylem phrase 'Ey kwesé é mi' (it is good that you are here…welcome).
We have adjusted the work plan for Five Corners as a result of COVID-19 to ensure safety for the public and construction staff. The new infrastructure improvements are being worked on in stages.
We're making more room for road users along Promontory Road from Vedder Elementary to Chester Drive. This phase is part of a larger construction package that includes widening neighbouring corridors.
New sidewalks, streetlights, bicycle lanes, gravel trail connection, and drainage facilities are coming this summer to Walden Street and a portion of Chilliwack Central Road.
Try out the newly completed extension of the Valley Rail Trail, from Airport Road to Hocking! The paved multi-use trail is separated from the railway tracks with fencing from Sardis to Hocking Avenue.
Construction will resume over the next month. The hydro poles will be relocated by BC Hydro, enabling the City’s contractor to complete the final stages of work on the roundabout.
