The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office and UBCO Library are hosting a book club on Skid Dogs by Emelia Symington-Fedy on April 29. Lunch will be provided.

April 17: FCCS year end show opening | Everything And Then Some

Join us for opening night of the FCCS Year end show: Everything And Then Some.

The exhibition will highlight a wide variety of work created by both fine arts and media studies emerging artists. The collection will include sculpture, performance, installation, painting, drawing, digital media, design, and animation.

The Everything And Then Some exhibition runs from April 17 to 27 and is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm.

May 15: UBC MD Undergraduate Information Session

The Southern Medical Program is hosting an information session for prospective applicants to the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s MD Undergraduate Program. Learn about the admission requirements, the application pathways, and how the program is training the next generation of physicians in our province.

Presenters include Dr. Shahin Shirzad, Assistant Dean, Admissions, UBC Faculty of Medicine and current Southern Medical Program students.

April 28: Annual Student Okanagan Film Festival

The annual Student Okanagan Film Festival continues a tradition of celebrating emerging student filmmakers of the Okanagan Valley.

The festival showcases short films from a wide range of genres including mini-documentary, experimental, music videos, animation, short narrative & more. This is a great chance for student filmmakers to see their films or videos on a big screen.

May 20 & June 4: Winter 2025/26 pre-registration session 

Winter Session registration is right around the corner! If you need a refresher to help kick-start your planning, Academic & Career Advising is hosting faculty-specific Zoom sessions between May 20 and June 4. Each session will cover the registration essentials, including: 

  • How to plan your courses 
  • The best tools and resources to use 
  • Tips tailored to your program

All year levels are welcome to attend, but these sessions will start with the basics. Don't forget to bring your questions!

Volunteer with Orchard Gardens 🧑‍🌾 

Looking for meaningful ways to give back this spring and summer? Orchard Gardens, an independent non-profit senior home, is offering a variety of one-time and ongoing volunteer opportunities!

Seasonal Highlights:

  • Spring Flower Planting (May 6–10): Help us plant marigolds around the building.

  • Mother’s Day Celebration (May 12): Join us for an afternoon of poetry, music, and treats.

  • Walker-Thon & BBQ (May 14): Support our biggest fundraiser of the season—assist with setup, food service, donations, and more!

  • Vintage Car Show (July 22): Help host, capture moments, or share on social media.

Ongoing Opportunities:
Join us for Bingo, Ladder Ball, Spa Days, library help, musical performances, wellness visits, and more.

📝 On-site training provided. For regular roles, a criminal record check, resume, and reference are required.
