Productivity Tip

FOCUS YOUR TIME

As coaches, we often hear from both advisors and their assistants on how much time and energy is spent on trying to book client meetings. A few factors to consider in this day and age are location, time of day the client is available and the various methods of communication available. More and more we have to consider different ways of keeping in contact with our clients and how we connect to them in the first place.

Why not try one of the many online scheduling apps such as Calendly or Acuity? The main premise of these apps is that you send your clients a link to your online calendar and they can look at your availability and book a time slot that suits both of you. You can even program in a maximum number of meetings that can be booked in a day.

We are also finding that many clients prefer to do appointments via conference call. With online video calling systems like ZOOM and Skype, you can see each other and share your screens. This is beneficial when looking at portfolio reports, preparing various quotes to go over together etc.

As always, you need to check with your compliance departments on what you are able to do and any parameters around these tools. It’s time to start moving forward in our rapidly changing environments and who doesn’t want to be more efficient, meet our client’s changing needs and create more TIME for ourselves to enjoy a better work/life balance!

PAT GIESBRECHT

Having spent over 30 years in the financial services industry, I have found two things to be true; everything and nothing has changed with the day-to-day challenges advisors face.

Everything has changed with technology and moving from paper to electronic, regulatory requirements, fee disclosure, anti-spam requirements, the amount of back-end support, medical underwriting, saturated marketplace and competition, and the list goes on.
