SECOND PAYMENT OF MUNICIPAL TAXES
AT THE CITY OF SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BELLEVUE

Following the recent announcement by the City of Montreal mentioning that it postponed, for a second time, the date of the second tax payment from its residents and merchants to September 1st, 2020, the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue wishes to clarify the situation for its taxpayers and explain its decision.

When the City of Montreal postponed the second payment for its taxpayers for the first time, it also extended the deadline for the second aliquot share payment from neighbouring municipalities in the Agglomeration of Montreal to July 3rd. Thus, the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue was able to take advantage of this payment delay to lighten the tax burden of its taxpayers as well by postponing the 2nd payment of taxes to July 3rd and reducing the interest rate to 0% for municipal taxes unpaid and due between April 14th and July 3rd, 2020.

However, this time, despite the delay granted to Montreal taxpayers, the Agglomeration still expects the neighbouring cities to pay their 2nd aliquot share by July 3rd, 2020.

In this perspective, the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue unfortunately cannot afford to postpone the payment of taxes from its citizens a second time, since this would financially affect the payment of its share to the Agglomeration of Montreal in the agreed deadline.

Therefore, as announced on April 15th, the 2nd property tax payment from citizens and merchants of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is due on July 3rd, 2020, and, from that date, the interest rate for unpaid taxes will again be the same as that set out in Regulation number 818.

We thank you for your understanding.
