We will also hold a virtual graduation ceremony online. Planning for both the traditional and virtual ceremonies is underway; updates will be provided here as details, format, date and time, are confirmed. | Webcast: How can we reduce COVID-19 anxiety? The virus seems to have allowed for a silver lining in that we are all in the same boat, so-to-speak, and we need to be able to rely on each other, even strangers, to help us get through this as best as possible. I feel blessed that I am in a position to help, not just those in my immediate family, but other’s loved ones." Well, I’m back and excited to share how my co-op experience has progressed! Since my last article, I began the process of applying to jobs, interviewing, and actually landing my job!" On March 11th 2020, a team of 16 UBC KIN students traveled to Brock University in Niagara Falls, Ontario to compete in the 2020 Kinesiology Games. Alongside 35 other teams from schools all over Canada, our team competed in four categories: Dance, Academics, Sports, and Spirit. We had one full day to compete in all four challenges. Unfortunately, on the evening of our arrival it was announced that Brock University was to be closed as a precaution against the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the official end of the conference, however, we were able to hold a makeshift closing ceremony, where UBC KIN placed 3rd in Spirit and 2nd Overall! This was a huge accomplishment for the KIN team, as we have been preparing for the games since tryouts at the end of September, and UBC has not placed in the overall category ever, nor in any category since 2017.
