Shore Library) Across North America, book challenges and bans are on the rise. What’s at stake when access to ideas is restricted and what role do libraries play in defending intellectual freedom? Writer, critic, and professor Ira Wells takes on these urgent questions in a talk that connects censorship debates to the health of democracy itself. His essays have appeared in The Atlantic, The Globe and Mail, and The Guardian. He is also the author of "On Book Banning: How the New Censorship Consensus Trivializes Art and Undermines Democracy".
