Music in the Park: 3 Tuesdays in August

This music series is designed to connect live audiences to some of Nanaimo's talent against the beautiful backdrops of our parks. All are welcome. All concerts are free events.

Twin Fiddles with Cross Canada Fiddle at Neck Point Park (Finn Beach)

Bring a blanket or chair and join us, rain or shine, for a free live music event. Twin Fiddles is Saskatoon-based fiddle player JJ Guy along with Order of Canada recipient Gordon Stobbe of Seaforth, NS. They present a highly entertaining and varied show that draws on fiddle traditions from around the world. They are joined on stage by Nanaimo’s own Geoff and Trish Horrocks of Cross Canada Fiddle.

*Please note* This is a walk through experience! Come with your walking shoes and explore the trail and boardwalk at Richards Marsh Park. The music will float and resonate through the space and can be enjoyed from the multiple walking trails in and around the marsh. This live music event features cello performance by Alexandra Lee and vocals by Erin Lawson. Cellist Alexandra Lee is an instructor at the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music and Associate Principal Cellist with the Vancouver Island Symphony. Joining her is mezzo-soprano Erin Lawson, a new member of the faculty of the Nanaimo Conservatory of Music.

Tuesday, August 24, 6:00-7:00 PM
Theo Massop at Colliery Dam Park

Bring a blanket or chair and join us, rain or shine, for a concert by Theo Massop. Performing near the washroom building, Theo draws from the styles of acts such as Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle. His musical approach combines flavours of reggae, blues, folk, country and straight-ahead rock, all performed without pretension and from the heart.
