COMING UP AT COUNCIL

HERITAGE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY ENDORSED BY COUNCIL

Council endorsed the District’s first Heritage Management Strategy on Tuesday, February 20. The Strategy is intended to identify and manage the stories, places and values that have shaped the community over time, and develop policies to conserve these heritage assets moving forward.

The strategy is the result of extensive public engagement, heritage sector consultation, additional Squamish Nation community engagement and interviews with Squamish Nation cultural ambassadors over the course of almost two years. Three priority archaeological heritage actions, potential collaboration and grant funding opportunities were identified through discussions between District and Squamish Nation staff.

DEVELOPMENT REVIEW

ZERO WASTE

Hazardous material can be dangerous and therefore cannot be placed into your recycling tote for collection. The most common types are disposable propane cylinders, lithium batteries from electronics such as computers and cell phones, and lighter fluid containers. Hazardous materials can pose serious safety problems for recycling workers and the operation of recycling facilities. Check out the Waste Wizard on our website to find out where to dispose of hazardous materials in Squamish.
