This Week...

Remember to change your clocks on Saturday before bed, learn where to recycle Halloween candy wrappers and read about the final week of the AAP. Read on for more!

Fall Back Time Change

On Sunday November 3, 2024 at 2am the clock turns back one hour. There will be more light in the morning and less light in the evening. Here are some tips to help adjust to the change:

  • Gradually go to bed later than your usual bedtime.
  • Expose yourself to bright light in the morning.
  • Avoid long naps during the day.
  • Skip the coffee/caffeinated drinks four to six hours before bedtime.

Recycle Wrappers

Did you know? You can separate and save your Halloween candy wrappers for recycling. While they can't go in to your blue bin, you can search "candy wrappers" in the Waste Wizard on the city's website or on the Nanaimo Recycles app and a list of drop off locations will appear!

WASTE WIZARD

Last Week Of The AAP

The alternative approval process (AAP) to seek elector approval to borrow up to $90 million for public works yard updates, which include replacing the fleet building and crew & administration building ends on Oct. 31 at 4:30 pm.

Nanaimo 150: Did You Know?

1887, May 3: The worst mining accident in British Columbia history happened on this day when an explosion rocked the Esplanade No. 1 Mine killing 148 men. The jury blamed the explosion on the firing of an unprepared and badly planted charge that ignited accumulated gas fuelled by coal dust. No criminal negligence was attributed to anyone. Also this year, the E & N Railway was extended into Wellington.

Will Your Commute Be Affected This Week?
