X̱wún̓eḵw Park Sea Dike Project: Milestone

The X̱wún̓eḵw Park Sea Dike Project has just hit a major milestone.

Stone column ground improvements are now completed which will ensure that the new sea dike performs as expected during an earthquake event. This work involved installing 18 million kilograms of rock into the ground across 700 stone column locations each approximately 20m deep. The stone was vibrated into the ground using a large probe which compacts the existing soils under the ground in the process.

Pile installation work is planned to be completed next week, subject to ground conditions. Thank you for your continued patience while this work is underway.

Help Wildlife Stay Wild – Lock Your Totes

Bears are coming out of hibernation and an unlocked tote is an invitation to dinner. When we take action, we help keep bears wild and out of trouble.

Bylaw will be checking totes that are visible from the road over the next few weeks to ensure they are locked. Each infraction of the Wildlife Attractant Bylaw may result in a warning, before resulting in a fine of $230 per day.

Did you know → As per the Wildlife Attractant Bylaw, totes must be locked at all times, even if empty, and only placed curbside and unlocked on the morning of collection day between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. – not the night before.

Learn more about the bylaw at squamish.ca/wildlife.
