Shame and Prejudice: A Story of Resilience
Ongoing until Jan. 3rd, 2021

Shame and Prejudice: A Story of Resilience provides a searing critique of Canada’s colonial policies, past and present, on the occasion of the recent sesquicentennial.

This exhibition features nearly 80 pieces, including Monkman’s own paintings, installations and sculptures, in dialogue with historical artifacts loaned from museums and private collections across Canada.

Queer of colour activism in decolonial Europe
January 13, 2021 

This talk explores what a decolonial strategy focused on Europe might look like and suggests that the practices of European activists and artists of colour can offer potential answers, exactly because of the peculiar position in which continental structures of racialization put communities of colour, not quite fitting either dominant models of Europeanness or of racialized minorities.

Call for Submissions: Multidisciplinary Undergraudate Research Conference (MURC)

MURC is a conference for UBC undergraduate students to showcase their research in front of their fellow UBC students, family, and friends. Researchers may choose one of two formats to showcase their research: presentation or poster.

Emerge Media Awards 2021
Deadline: Feb. 14th, 2021

The Emerge Media Awards celebrate and showcase the achievements of Canadian postsecondary students in journalism, photography, graphic design and communications disciplines.

We seek out and recognize the best writing, editing, videography, audio, graphic design, communications, marketing and public relations.

Eligible work must have been produced during the 2020 calendar year; entrants must have been enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program at the time of production. Visit the webite below for more information.
