This week’s educator resources, "Safeguarding Student Well-being Online," provide tools to promote digital literacy, online safety, and personal privacy for students. With lessons on critical thinking, cybersecurity, and protection from online risks, these resources equip students with essential skills to navigate and safeguard themselves in digital spaces.

Educator Resources:

  1. Provided by Media Smarts, Use, Understand & Engage: A Digital Media Literacy Framework for Canadian Schools offers a roadmap for teaching digital media literacy, featuring lessons and interactive resources to help K-12 students critically process digital information and support their mental wellness.

  2. Provided by Common Sense Education in collaboration with CYBER.ORG, Cybersecurity Lessons for Grades K–8 equips students with essential skills for online safety, covering topics like phishing and identifying unsafe websites. Each lesson includes extension activities to enhance students' understanding and cybersecurity practices.

  3. Provided by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, Sextortion: What Teens Need to Know educates students on recognizing and preventing sextortion, offering guidance on handling online coercion and protecting personal privacy.
