| The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) extends our sincere condolences to everyone impacted by the tragic incident at CFB Wainwright. We are grateful to the health-care teams and emergency responders who came together quickly to support the response. Saskatchewan-based resources were part of that effort, including ground ambulance teams, STARS and Saskatchewan Air Ambulance, with staff supporting patient assessment, care and transport in Alberta. We also want to recognize and thank many of our team members who supported the response efforts and stepped forward, demonstrating once again the compassion that defines our care, every day. Following the incident, the SHA worked closely with our partners in Alberta and the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health to prepare for the possibility that patients may need to be transferred to Saskatchewan. Teams across the province assessed capacity and were prepared to receive patients if required. Ultimately, no patients were transferred to Saskatchewan. We also extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who responded during an incredibly difficult situation and to our partners in Alberta for their leadership, decisive response, and collaboration. Major incidents require health systems to respond quickly and collaboratively, often across organizational and provincial boundaries. We are proud of the Saskatchewan teams who contributed directly to the response in Alberta, as well as those who worked behind the scenes to ensure our system was ready to provide additional support if needed. We know first-hand the complexities and challenges that come with responding to major emergency incidents. We have a deep appreciation for each of you who step forward without hesitation in these moments, and every day, with skill, compassion, and unwavering dedication. We are incredibly grateful for each of you. | Public Service Announcements and News Releases | From left: Premier Scott Moe, Minister of Health Jeremy Cockrill and SHA Chief Operating Officer Derek Miller were on hand in the space that will be renovated into the Acquired Brain Injury unit at Saskatoon City Hospital. | Premier Moe on hand to celebrate opening of more acute care bedsOn October 20, Premier Scott Moe and Minister of Health Jeremy Cockrill joined SHA Chief Operating Officer, Derek Miller, Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation CEO Steve Shannon, SHA foundation partners and other SHA staff at Saskatoon City Hospital to celebrate that a total of 120 new acute care beds opened in the past year across Saskatoon. 🔗 View full release | New Heart Function Clinic in Yorkton improves access for patients in East-Central SaskatchewanResidents of Yorkton and surrounding communities are benefiting from improved access to specialized cardiac care with the opening of a new Heart Function Clinic operated by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA). 🔗 View full release | Construction begins on new Saskatoon Cancer Patient LodgeToday, in conjunction with the federal Build Communities Strong Fund announcement, the Government of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Cancer Agency (SCA) held a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off construction for the new Saskatoon Cancer Patient Lodge at 1036 College Drive in Saskatoon. 🔗 View full release | SHA CARES - Living our Values | A meal delivered, a friendly conversation or a visit from a dog can brighten someone’s day. Former regional clinical documents related to insulin dose adjustment are being repealed as part of the transition to this provincial procedure. The procedure includes guidance on eligible health care professionals, certification requirements, patient-specific orders, inclusion and exclusion criteria, escalation criteria, and the process for implementing insulin dose adjustment.
