You may now qualify for rent and wage subsidies through an expanded Local Lockdown Program and CRA website is now accepting applications for October/November 2021.
Today, the federal government announced a temporary change to allow businesses facing a 50% capacity restriction to qualify for improved wage and rent support. This change is effective Dec. 19, 2021 to Feb. 12, 2022.
What changed
Businesses subjected to capacity restriction of 50% or more now eligible
Monthly revenue loss threshold is reduced to 25%
12-month revenue decline documentation not required
Subsidies range from 25% to a maximum of 75%, depending on the level of revenue loss
While the revenue threshold remains high, this is a significant improvement. The expanded definition of lockdown to include capacity restrictions is a positive step and based directly on our recommendations. We’ll continue to lobby to ensure all businesses facing a revenue decline are eligible for some support, including new businesses currently excluded from federal programs.
Wage and rent subsidy programs officially open for October/November applications
You can now apply to the Tourism and Hospitality Recovery program and the Hardest Hit Business Recovery programs on the CRA website to receive wage and rent support for period 22 (October 24-November 20, 2021).
