- Large appliances in good working order.
- Furniture, household items, garden tools, sports equipment, pet accessories, and seasonal items in reasonable condition.
What's not accepted? - TVs, computers, printers, VCRs (recycle these at the Bottle Depot).
- Toys and other kids’ accessories (there will be a specific kid’s swap in November).
- Fabrics and clothing (there will be a clothing and book swap in October).
- Books, music, games (there will be a clothing and book swap in October).
- Mattresses (recycle these at the landfill).
- Items broken or damaged beyond repair.
Please note: Folks will be asked to self-sort. Volunteers will be on-site to help find the right location for items. Items need to be clean and in working order. We are unable to accept broken or dirty items. Due to the forecasted rain, space for furniture will be limited, and we will accept items on a first come, first-served basis. Furniture will be placed outside under canopy tents. Once the space if full, we will no longer be able to accept additional furniture. Drop-off begins at 9 am. We can only accept items that fit in the categories described. Drop off items will ONLY be accepted between 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event is organized by the District of Squamish and the Squamish Climate Action Network to advance a circular economy and reduce avoidable waste. | The winning designs are now available to purchase as pre-reviewed plans from the winning architect/designer listed. Building permit applications that are submitted with pre-reviewed plans will be placed in a priority sequence ahead of other ADU and suite applications. Deadline to take the survey is September 15. | NOTICE OF TRAFFIC AND NOISE IMPACTS | DISCOVERY TRAIL CLOSURE Crews will be conducting ditch remediation work between Monday, August 26 to Friday, August 30 at the intersection of Industrial Way and Highway 99. Work will be staged over the coming weeks. SOIL REMOVAL WORK Crews will be working on a project to remove hydrocarbon contaminated soil at 39619 Galbraith Avenue. Work is targeted to complete September 10. Work will mostly occur within bylaw hours but will be starting as early as 2 a.m. and finishing as late as 6 p.m. Work will not be occurring on the weekend. SECOND AVENUE TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE Crews will require a road closure along Second Avenue between Victoria and Winnipeg Street from Wednesday, August 28 from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. The sidewalk on the west side will remain accessible during this time. | FORTIS BC PROJECT Fortis BC is conducting pre-construction activities along Finch Drive and Industrial Way. Crews will be undertaking work to help identify the location of existing underground utilities in preparation for construction of the Eagle Mountain gas pipeline. This work will result in single-lane alternating traffic along Finch Drive and Industrial Way. Work is anticipated to occur from mid-August into September. ARC'TERYX CLIMB ACADEMY Cleveland Avenue will be closed between Victoria and Main Street from Thursday, August 22 to Sunday, August 25. Expect busier-than-usual pedestrian traffic in this area. DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC ISLAND MAINTENANCE Maintenance work will take place along Cleveland Avenue on Monday, August 26, starting at 6 a.m. The downtown cleanup will resume on Thursday, August 28, starting at 5 a.m. Please note that lane closures in effect during this work. - Place totes curbside between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. only on collection day - never the night before.
- Rinse all recycling material to eliminate food residue and reduce odours.
- Pick fruit as it ripens, and don’t let it collect on the ground.
- Keep barbecues clean and grease-free by burning for an extra five minutes after removing food and by cleaning barbecue tools.
- Move fridges and freezers indoors, or lock them.
- Chat with your neighbours about managing their attractants.
