The Commission also extends its sincere appreciation to Rob Doucet for his leadership and dedicated service as Board Chair during the 2025–2026 term. His commitment has helped advance numerous regional initiatives and we are grateful to continue working with him as Past-Chair of the FRSC. Congratulations to John Mackenzie, Deputy Mayor of the City of Saint John, on his appointment as Board Chair, and to Ray Riddell, Chair of the Fundy Rural District Advisory Committee, on being appointed Vice-Chair. We look forward to their leadership in the year ahead. | Performance Dashboard Now Live | The FRSC Performance Dashboard is now live on the FRSC website, providing a centralized view of service performance across the Commission that consolidates key indicators to support transparency and informed oversight | | This launch marks an important step in strengthening performance measurement and improving access to information on the services delivered across the region. Learn more about the roles and how to apply here. | Other Highlights from the Board Meeting | - Members participated in an orientation session featuring staff presentations, workshop discussions, and dialogue on key priorities for the new term.
- Beginning in July, meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 3:00 pm. The next meeting is scheduled for July 28.
- The 2027 budget cycle has now been initiated with an exercise on initial priorities. Next steps include consultations with the Board and key stakeholders, including presentations to member councils later this year.
For more details, read this month's agenda package here. | F E A T U R E D S T O R I E S | A successful 2026 Sustainable Transportation Week | This year’s Sustainable Transportation Week once again brought communities together to celebrate active, sustainable ways of getting around. Residents took the Sustainable Transportation Pledge, engaged with the campaign online, and entered to win one of four $250 gift cards to regional facilities. | | The campaign reached over 45,000 people on social media, generated around 81,000 views and 800 engagements, attracted 940 website visits, and received 142 contest entries. Bike-Walk Bus School Contest The new Bike & Walk Bus Challenge also saw great participation, with 16 buses from across the region, with participation ranging from 5 to over 30 students per bus. Five schools were selected to receive a $1,500 Physical Activity Equipment Box customized to the needs of each school. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make it another success. Together, we're building healthier, more sustainable communities! | Access Point Clinics Reach Residents Across the Region | Our Spring Access Point Clinics brought government and community services closer to residents through two events: Hampton on June 3 and Fundy–St. Martins on June 17. The clinics featured participating organizations offering information, resources, and one-on-one support. | | Additional Access Point Clinics are planned for Grand Bay–Westfield and the Fundy Rural District this fall (dates and locations to be confirmed). Thank you to our numerous partner organizations for helping make these clinics a valuable resource for residents. | Fundy Region Transit Plan Pop-Ups | Thank you to everyone who participated in the Fundy Region Transit Plan pop-up engagement sessions held last week, focused on gathering initial feedback on travel needs, barriers to regional mobility, and opportunities to improve transportation within and between communities across the region. | | We connected with 150 residents across the region. Feedback gathered through these discussions, along with the Travel Activity Survey results, will help inform the development of the long-range Regional Public Transit Plan. We appreciate all who contributed their input. Further engagement opportunities will be shared as the project advances, including updates on what we heard and next steps in the planning process. Learn more at FundyTransitPlan.ca | Commemorating National Indigenous Peoples Day - Healing Walk | On June 18, staff members from the Fundy Regional Service Commission joined a Guided Walk led by Elder Cecelia Brooks at Blueberry Hill in Grand Bay-Westfield, to commemorate National Indigenous Peoples Day (June 21) and National Indigenous History Month, recognizing and celebrating the traditions and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. | | Elder Cecelia from Wabanaki Tree Spirit Tours & Events guided participants through the trail while sharing teachings about nature and Indigenous perspectives, offering a meaningful opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect on our relationship with the land and all living things. We are grateful to Elder Cecelia for leading this meaningful and special experience. | | | | |
